Lube Stop Raises Over $36,000 During Sixth Annual MDA Fund Drive

Company to Sponsor 42 Children at MDA’s Camp Cheerful

Berea, Ohio, March 31, 2011 – The Lube Stop, Inc. (Lube Stop) today announced that the company and its customers raised $36,255 during the sixth year participating in the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s (MDA) fund drive to fight neuromuscular diseases. The money will help sponsor 42 children at the MDA’s Camp Cheerful this summer. Lube Stop and its customers have raised nearly $170,000 and sponsored 221 children since the company started participating in the fund drive in 2006.

Throughout the month of March, Lube Stop’s customers purchased 12,000 green, gold and platinum shamrocks. By purchasing $1, $5 and $10 shamrocks, Lube Stop customers helped support the MDA’s research and service programs, including 90 summer camps and 240 MDA clinics.

Camp Cheerful is a summer camp located in Strongsville, Ohio, opened in 1955 for children ages 6 to 18 affected by neuromuscular diseases. This week-long camp is completely accessible and barrier-free. Campers enjoy activities ranging from outdoor sports like swimming, boating, baseball and horseback riding, to less physically demanding programs like arts, crafts and talent shows.

“We made a commitment to make a difference in peoples’ lives,” said Tony Cammerata, vice president of operations at Lube Stop. “In reality, the children, the MDA families and our MDA representatives ended up making a difference in ours. They’ve all become our friends and part of our Lube Stop culture. The key to that relationship continues to be the generosity and responsiveness of our loyal customers and our neighboring businesses. Working together we were able to have our most successful year yet with over $36,000 raised.”
